I normally don’t take time to write letters like this, but I felt it very important for you to hear what an incredible job Marla did on the sale of our condo at Villa Montane. I have been in real estate in Phoenix, Arizona for 31 years. 29 years ago I decided to open my own company because the large commercial brokerage firms wouldn’t hire me. As you are aware, real estate brokerage takes persistence, honesty, knowledge, continuity and passion to be successful. These are only a few of the words that describe Marla.

Approximately five years ago, my family came to Beaver Creek for our first time. a personal perspective

We hear the word Investment more and more in connection with ownership of property in a resort area. Naturally, one wonders what the potential reward of owning a home in the Vail Valley might be.

I would like to focus on another aspect of return on real estate, the personal satisfaction gained in the bringing a family together in a resort community.

My father provided us with a vacation home in Vail in 1963. What has his investments returned? As youngsters, my brothers, sister and I were able to learn along side our parents a life sport, one which we've all carried into adulthood. We developed individual appreciation for the outdoors and a respect for the forces of Nature.

Our world here in the valley was limitless compared to the controls necessitated by growing up near a city, yet we were always within the safe confines of the resort. All the family would get together, to share the outdoors, the exhilaration of the mountains and the joy of our shared sport. Whether we were all on the same ski run or going in different directions, we were never more together.

Has the value of our home increased? Decidedly so, but this is not the only appreciation. For how can one ever put a value on fun, growth, learning, challenge and the sharing that our home in the Vail Valley has given us. Return on investment? Limitless!

It’ll take me two years to get rid of all the things I’ve accumulated but the cleansing will be a good thing.

The simplification process is all a positive step in reducing my responsibilities looking forward to move “me” time.
